Education – Schools, Colleges and Universities
Helmsman covers all education areas including nursery, primary, secondary schools (independent, private or public), colleges and universities. We are able to manufacture bespoke lockers and cubicles depending on the room design and customer specification.
Nursery and Primary School
Young children respond to bright colours and patterns as this helps them to distinguish between objects as they seem more stimulating and interesting. Bright colours are also known to have deeper associations; red is often connected with passion, green with nature and blue with sadness.
Helmsman wants to educate and demonstrate the importance of security, hygiene and a clean and tidy environment to pupils with our lockers and cubicles. Our Key Stage 1 lockers are 1250mm high while Key Stage 2 lockers are 1600mm high, available in 1 to 3 compartments. Bespoke sizes and solutions are also available for both lockers and cubicles. The Trowse Primary School is a good example of our 1600mm high lockers.
Secondary School and Sixth Form
Secondary and Sixth Form pupils are looking for a contemporary look and require respect and privacy. Whether it is gender-neutral toilets, secure and durable lockers or spacious changing rooms with benches, the feeling of ownership should be encouraged.
Adolescents prefer to have a more sophisticated look with subtle colours. Robust and anti-vandal fittings are available. Our cubicle sizes are tailored to suit your specifications. Our standard locker size is 1775mm high, bespoke sizes and solutions are available. We have worked on a number of secondary schools, one of them being Weald of Kent Grammar School.
College and University
College and university toilets should follow the same principle of respect and privacy as secondary school and sixth form pupils. Students are independent, first impressions count. One of our more luxury university projects has been at the University of Strathclyde.
We use Mild Steel or Solid Grade Laminate for our lockers and Solid Grade Laminate for our cubicles. We provide an integrated plumbing system and vanity unit panels to cover up the pipework and continuously provide a stylish and modern feel through the spaces.
