CrossFit Twenty Three is a high-performance training facility based in London, known for its strong community and passion for fitness. The company has expanded into the unit next door, creating a larger space with more opportunities for members, including additional classes and brand-new luxury changing facilities. Part of the project, the Helmsman team had the pleasure of working with Scutts Renovations, where we supplied and installed three-compartment Laminate Lockers and Frontline Cubicles.

Our team manufactured and installed four laminate lockers in each changing room to provide storage for up to 12 users. Laminate Lockers are a fantastic solution for high-traffic facilities, while their sleek finish adds to the overall aesthetics of the environment.

Laminate lockers were manufactured with a mild steel carcass, which was powder-coated in ‘Ice’ from the standard metal colour chart. The laminate doors were finished in a gorgeous wood-affect ‘Pleated Teak’ from the Helmsman laminate colour chart. Lockers were completed with circle numbering above the diamond latch lock, to allow users to use their own padlocks while storing personal items.

Once the laminate lockers were installed on the cladded stands, as the side of the locker run was exposed, matching end panels were supplied and installed to ensure a clean and seamless finish.

As part of a package, Helmsman also supplied and installed Frontline Cubicles for showers and restrooms, finished in the same Pleated Teak laminate to coordinate seamlessly with the lockers. The cubicles are robust in design, featuring a rounded extruded aluminium channel that strengthens the system and is mechanically fixed to the pilasters.

Each door is fitted with three heavy-duty laminates, through fixing hinges, which incorporate the anti-finger trap and anti-lift features for added security and durability.

All Saints Health Hub Lockers and Cubicles

All Saint’s Health Hub is a cutting-edge gym, with a daily fitness class, heated pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi that is open to all club members and hotel guests at All Saints Hotel. This project was based in Bury St Edmunds, this local project provides a premium wellness facility for the community. All Saints Health Hub lockers, cubicles and wall-to-floor bench seating with a hook rail bar was manufactured and installed by the Helmsman team.

Our clients requested Helmsman two-compartment Laminate lockers to accommodate 10 facility users. Laminate lockers are a great option for many changing rooms and locker rooms due to their durability and aesthetics. They are suitable for high-traffic facilities as well as for either wet or dry areas.

Laminate lockers were manufactured with an aluminium carcass and stainless steel frame, powder coated in ‘Ice’ from the standard metal colour chart, whereas the laminate doors were in ‘Graphite Grey’ from the Helmsman laminate colour chart. Laminate lockers were completed with a circle numbering above the Ronis E10 DCL Digital lock in black, creating an aesthetic and sleek appearance.  Digital locks are a fantastic option as there is a higher security ensuring each user that their personal belongings are secure and safe, as well as reducing the chances of people losing keys to the lockers.

Moreover, they also requested to have Helmsman’s front-line cubicles. The doors are in ‘Graphite Grey’ doors and the facias and dividers are in ‘Mountain Grey’. The laminate colour matches the rest of the interiors. The cubicle was completed with a wall-to-floor bench with a laminate slat in ‘Graphite grey’ to maintain colour coordination. The changing room was completed with wall-to-floor bench seating with hook rail bars above the bench.

Modern Box Bench Seating and Leisure Lockers

A well-executed wellness hub

A new £5m refurbishment and extension to the Blyth Sports Centre in Sunderland has been completed by Brims Construction. Designed as a ‘wellness hub’, the facility includes a new state-of-the-art gym and spa together with a modernised pool and changing areas.

For the scheme by JDDK Architects, Helmsman Lockers and Cubicles designed, supplied and installed a range of lockers and seating in both the spa and dry areas of the centre. To keep the look uniform across the project, high-pressure laminate was used for both seating and lockers. The spa area features ‘wet spec’ bespoke bench seating topped with an Abet laminate in a teak finish and complemented with matching 2-compartment leisure lockers. The woodgrain effect exudes an air of luxury throughout the space and the clever use of extending it to the bench seating and adding a floor in complementary tones creates a stunning overall effect. White wrist straps with locker number and keys complete the scheme and add a subtle contrast.

In the ‘dry’ area, slatted bench seating was created along with matching 2-compartment leisure lockers and hook bars using Abet’s ‘Spring White’ laminate. The seating was fabricated into slats with a smoke-coloured frame and creates a space of clean-cut lines and symmetry. Abet’s compact grade features a solid core construction in 6mm, 10mm or 12mm thickness which makes it a perfect choice for areas prone to high moisture and humidity as there is no risk of peeling, cracking or delamination. They are fully self-supporting, are easy to work with for cutting and fabrication and have resistance to wear, impact and scratching.

Equipped with the latest innovative gym equipment including treadmills, striders, indoor bikes and rowers this club also has stretch rooms, fitness studios, a 15-metre swimming pool and of course the latest in changing rooms by Helmsman to complement it. Isenhurst Health Club had lockers and bench seating from Helmsman.

Helmsman leisure lockers with 3 compartments were supplied and fitted at the Health Club in Sussex. Helmsman bench seating was also used to match the lockers and Helmsman coat hook bar was fitted to match the lockers.
