Project Overview

Funded by Northumberland County Council, the new Berwick Leisure Centre has replaced the old Swan Centre. For the community benefit, the old sports centre continued to stay open for business as usual while construction progressed.

The new sports centre features a five-lane, 25m swimming pool, a teaching pool, leisure pool and spa facilities. There’s a sports hall, indoor bowls, fitness studios, cafe, and a sensory room. Outside there’s a 3G full-size playing pitch, Play Park and trim trail and parking for 175 cars.

Helmsman won the Berwick Leisure Centre cubicles package and worked across two floors. We manufactured, delivered, and installed fully framed leisure cubicles alongside the integrated plumbing system panels.

We altered our original fully framed leisure cubicle design to suit the site adding a floating leg to the cubicle. Ensuring that these cubicles were still all aligning and floating look from the front. The solid grade laminate used was very uniform. Every cubicle door was in Formica Storm, and every fascia was in Formica Fog. However, to keep with the leisure centre colour scheme, each side panel altered between different laminate colours, Lime, Olive Green, Sea Green, Dusty Jade, and Mousse. Most cubicles were changing cubicles located on the ground floor and some toilet cubicles on the first floor.

Helmsman integrated plumbing system, IPS was installed with metal frames. The colour scheme of Formica Storm transferred from the door through to the back panels.
