River Academy is a new school that will be opening in Reading, for 1500 students between the ages of 11 and 18, of all abilities and backgrounds. River Academy will become a part of the educational community that encompasses mainstream, special and alternative education, and primary to sixth form. With the aim to build a community of schools in which is a community.

For this project, our team manufactured and installed 436 four-compartment school metal lockers, to accommodate 1744 students. The specifications of the metal school lockers were 1925mm high, 300mm wide and 450mm deep. The metal lockers are a fantastic choice of lock as they are hardwearing and designed. The body was manufactured with mild steel which was powder coated in our standard metal colour chart ‘Ice, whereas the mild steel doors were powder coated in ‘Smoke’ and ‘Blackpool’ to represent the school colour scheme, creating an aesthetic design within the new school.

The metal lockers were installed with stands. The specifications of the stands were 150mm high, 300 wide, and 450 deep. The stands are usually requested for many reasons such as lifting the lockers off the floor.

The school lockers were requested to be finished with thermographic numbering and swivel latch locks, which allowed the students to use their own padlock to store personal items during the day. Additionally, the metal lockers were completed with sloping tops. Sloping tops are an excellent addition as they prevent the growth of dust and dirt, as well as no items can be stored on top which is a hazard.
